I'll never forget the day I found out about Dean's passing. I work working in a grog shop and had a bit of down time so I started reading the Daily Tele. I think it was in the bottom RH corner of page 2 it had a small article on Dean's passing. I read it and just remember saying "oh NO!!!". A couple of week's before that MD were playing at the Annandale in Sydney (I'm a NSW boy), but I think my folks had something on and I couldn't go. I just remember thinking "They'll be back round - I'll see them then" (I didn't know about what Dean was going through till I read the press status's after his death)...... Possibly one of the biggest regrets of my life..... Still at least I have the music, videos and some of Dean's influence (not just in bass rig setup & playing style, but also his attitude of passing it on to those who are younger than me - mind you I'm only young myself but I still try and give to anyone who wants something). Dean, I've never met you but in the short time I've been listening to MD (since 06) and beyond, I've realised that you've taught me a lot - Thank you. It's amazing how powerful you realize something is when its gone. RIP \m/ DJK P.S. If you've got a gig you want to see but you've got something else on, go and see the gig ANYWAY!! Never do what I did!nondisclosed_email@example.com (djkevonator)Wed, 22 Feb 2012 15:27:26 +0000 Re: DEANhttps://bmdfriendsinforum.runboard.com/p1345,from=rss#post1345https://bmdfriendsinforum.runboard.com/p1345,from=rss#post1345Hello all. Long, long time no speak. I didn't know what to say when the news of Dean's passing broke. I can only really share a very fond memory of MD's UK tour, when I was lucky enough to see the band 5 times in a week, including the show that never made it onto the Tour-tee (the Metro I think?). Dean was a gem, made myself, along with Spew & Helmet if I recall rightly, feel very special, came and chatted at the last London show, gave me the aforementioned tee. Sounds silly really. But special. Then he got me installed on the merch stall at the Bristol gig for a spell before their set. What a great week that was. I was too embarrassed (and bear in mind that I'm older than most of MD) to talk to any of the band @ Fierce, even after James was good enough to get myself and my mate tickets so that we could hang out in hospitality. Did eventually get drunk enough to talk drumstick sizes with Adam at some point. I'm waffling, just as I did that night, I'm sure. So, just wanted to say "thankyou" to Dean and all of MD. I've said it before on an ancient message board somewhere, but MD really restored my faith in music. A lonely English bloke wandering around Sydney with YAFOTD on my walkman. Man, that was a good year. You take care guys. Big hugs, The Goon. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Goon Again)Fri, 04 Nov 2011 04:42:01 +0000 DEANhttps://bmdfriendsinforum.runboard.com/p1341,from=rss#post1341https://bmdfriendsinforum.runboard.com/p1341,from=rss#post1341 nondisclosed_email@example.com (Adalita X)Tue, 23 Aug 2011 11:32:50 +0000
