Ipswich 16/2/19

Dont know where to start. I went to the hotter than hell show at Ipswich with my daughter and her partner on saturday 16/2/19,and it was fantastic. Not only was it the first time I got to see the band live but it was the best mix up of tunes and so well played.I only went to see M D and as we where leaving Adalita And Adam were at the exit gate, what a way to top a great day.photos with these two legends and a brief but memorable convo. Thanks Magicdirt you have made my year. Al.

Re: Ipswich 16/2/19

I told a mate on another forum about the show at Ipswich and he shared a memory of his as follows.

But the first time I ever saw 'Lita was at (I think) Dom McAlinden's parents place out at Waurn Ponds on a warm summers eve, just a group of people round a 44 gallon fire drum, drinking and speaking lots of shyte with the occasional instrument appearing and a song wailed into the night
Dom was/is a fantastic drummer, Dean was there and they were kicking around the idea of starting to perform as Deer (something) .....bubbles(?) with just her and Dean ... I seem to remember back then she was a shy lanky chick emoticon
I guess she would have been no more than 18 or 19 and had an awesome mix of shy but confident young Croatian first gen with the passion of a young woman who knew she had "it" lol emoticon
I remember being really attracted to that and at the same time a little in awe ... she had a voice that was really hard to describe, it wasnt "great" by any stretch but it had smouldering passion, I am not sure if she sang it that night, but maybe, "Heroin" covered from The Velvet Underground ... I know that it was her and Deans first recording on a Geelong based Indy album in 1992 under "The JimJims" I used to have it but its been lost in the nearly 30 years since lol .. put out by Destroyer records I think and had a tonne of underground Geelong/Melb bands as a compilation it was titled "Check this out" ...Dave Thomas ( Bored!) was their key into it I think and got them into the studio for it . Or coulda been Brian Daniels ( now known as Eddie Baroo) who went on to form Buggertoe records and release a few like CD's in the early 90's

Awesome tale mate. Stories like this make me remember the vibe of the REAL OLD 'dirt boards circa 1999 with a whole bunch of us (including sometimes Dean! Particularly when he was laid up in hospital lol) Wonder if you (or your mate) were following the band around back then. Anyway...

They're coming fin by fin until the whole boat sinks.
