Re: Dean has passed away?

I was so shocked to hear this and have been just devastated since learning of Dean's passing. What a wonderful, wonderful person and musician.....it is nice to be able to read everyone's memories and tributes to him.

I wrote a tribute to Dean here: http://tinyurl.com/nrrh49

He showed me such kindness and friendship and I was just one of many.

To Adalita, Raul, and Adam, and Dean's family and friends: you are in my heart and thoughts. I'm so sorry for your deep loss.

Viva La Dirt and Viva El Dean!

Re: Dean has passed away?

I have been so sad since hearing that Dean has passed away. Love and support to Dean's family and the Magic Dirt family.

Magic Dirt has been the soundtrack to my life since 'Signs of Satanic youth'. I have seen them many times and many of my happiest moments have been marked by a gig or listening to a Magic Dirt song or new album. My son (nearly two) has been able to say 'Magic Dirt Rocks' and 'Go Adalita' since his first words were spoken many months ago, and his favourite song is 'I love the rain' - which he can sing all the way through!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Dean for sharing himself with us, especially in the past 9 years. Thank you to his family and Magic Dirt for giving us your wonderful music, made with Dean, to share forever.

I am so sad to know that I'll never see Dean playing with Magic Dirt again, something he obviously loved so much - but I am so grateful that I have so many memories of Dean and the Dirt playing live - I'll never forget.

Thank you again for making music for me (and everyone else)

I love you guys

XOX

Lou

Dean - Magic Dirt's Heartbeat

Dear Bereaved,

My condolences to family, friends, Magic Dirt and MD fans. I saw Dean play a handful of times in Hobart starting at the Dog. I have always found a heartbeat in his bass.

I remember him thumping out Ducky, Shovel, and Redhead.

We ate pizza at the dodgy place on Liverpool st. Hobart I was in awe of MD at the time (a teenager) and didn't speak to him. He was an idol for me back then. Years later, I wish I could have told him what his music meant to me. Magic Dirt was a salvation for me, as it was to my close friend Alex.

My condolences once again to his family, his band, and the fans such as myself who have his bass in their hearts.

Love,

Janssen
