Re: Dean has passed away?

I'm Deans age & have gone to gigs as my major thing to do since tennage years, in an effort to give musos space to be themselves I dont approach them at gigs. Dean, he approached me to chat, just as people. He even gave me a hug out-of-the blue, it was great timing & totally fitted what I needed at that time in my life. I remember that chat & the shows - his bent over sway & his axe dangling from the machine head. A great entertainment, music & work leagacy that is much valued. Thank you Dean.

Thinking of Deans people, hang in there.

For the Turners kids - your Dad was awesome!

Re: Dean has passed away?

I am incredibly sad about hearing about Dean's Death over the weekend, I thought maybe something was up with him last year when i saw MD a few times and he wasnt playing with them due to illness...
Woah...I havent written in here for ages Magic dirt mean a heap to me and have been a big part of my love of Music for many many years they even played my home town Kalgoorlie when i was in my teens.
And I always thought of Dean as such a great force behind Md and he had such a great passion and i am left thinking about the times I have spoken to him, I know the band were extremley close. Thank you Dean for making such meaningful music and the many times I had such great nights seeing you guys play I feel so sad writing this...I keep thinking about and remembering about Fairy Park live and when you used to sing it
Thanks Dean and thanks for the memories Magic dirt Fan forever.

awesome.

the first time i spoke to dean was in 2002. my sister and i drove down to torquay to see them play a channel v broadcast. during the last song adalita invited everyone up on stage to dance. the crowd hesitated but i pounced and was jumping like a git on the stage by myself with them for what felt like an age, but was only really a few seconds before the stage filled. my sister and i hung around after the gig in a hope to get a chance to say hello to the band. we hung back as dean spoke to someone, he saw me and straight away started telling me how awesome it was i jumped up and thanked me for doing it! i was completely taken aback. this openness, friendliness and enthusiasm were forever present everytime thereafter i had the pleasure of seeing him. i met the rest of the band for the first time that day, and again was met with an incredible kindness from some genuinely rad people.

i have so many wonderful memories of dean. this is before i even begin on his incredible talent as a musician, songwriter and producer. deans played bass with such incredible rhythm, texture and melody. in my opinion there are few artists of the era, or genre who used bass so effectively. so many songs, and so many of the 'hits' feature the bass playing key roles in the structure or the melody. i'm sure dean is a big influence to many, as he is me.

much love to ad, raul, adam, linda and his two beautiful girls. i'm so sorry for your loss. we are all much better for knowing him.

much love to you, dean.
